Doughnut Ice Cream Cone — ice cream served in a doughnut cone
The doughnut ice cream cone is an American street-food invention: a freshly-fried yeast doughnut formed around a cone-shape mould, filled with soft-serve ice cream and topped with sprinkles or chocolate. It is the offspring of a state-fair imagination.
i. Origin & history
Doughnut cones emerged in the 2010s in American specialty dessert shops and food trucks, particularly in Los Angeles and Brooklyn. They are explicitly social-media-friendly desserts — designed to be photographed.

iv. Tips & common mistakes
- Use the freshest ingredients you can. The recipe relies on them.
- Read the method through first. Several steps must be ready in advance.
- Season patiently. Sweetness and salt are tuned at the end, not the start.
v. Variations
Closely related to the British cronut and the Korean croffle. Modern doughnut cones use churro-style ridged exterior.
